Rome 2009

I am currently in Rome, Italy during Spring Break 2009. What a blast! This is a heck of an experience. We have seen how gorgeous, timeless, electrifying and captivating the city of Rome is. I have met so many new friends and have come to find them as not only genuine but hilarious. You couldn’t ask for better people to be overseas with. Rome has history at every turn and we’ve experienced it all! Our step counter can prove it! My first reccomendation is an Italian meal with great people. Nothing is better. The food here is heaven captured on a plate. Smiles and laughter fill the restaurants. The streets, churches, and ruins are filled with statues that seem to come alive with the emotion eminating from the stone. Wow. It’s unbelievable. I’ve seen original paintings and sculptures by most of the Ninja Turtles. Raphael, Michelangelo and tomorrow we see Donatello. A few of us are waking up early to take a train into Florence on a day trip. We’ll hit all the major sites and stop for gelato at what has been named well over a thousand times as the best ice cream shop in the world! More updates when I get back to the States!

We Are… 9-0

Its been a few weeks since my last post and its because i do keep forgetting to update.  The biggest thing that has happened to me so far was that i got tonsillitis and had to miss going to the Michigan game.  I really wanted to go but i didn’t eat or sleep that whole week and my plans were to camp out in front of the stadium in Paternoville.  The good news is that Penn State football is 9-0 and hopefully (knock on wood) on the way to play for a title.  However, as of this morning we are still #3 in the AP polls because Texas Tech jumped us after beating Texas.  This situation lets me bring up the BCS.  I hate the BCS.  I am 100% behind changing it to a playoff system.  Playoffs would be more exciting and have less controversy.  Also playoffs could still use the bowls, but as playoffs games.  They only thing is that less teams would then make the post season and that would mean less money for leagues, which is the whole reason for the BCS; its not about the football, its about the money.  Back to school.  I signed up for my spring classes and i got all the classes I wanted.  One of which is a spring break trip to Rome.  I can’t to go and i t should be loads of fun.  The falls sports seasons here are coming to a close with just soccer playoffs left to go.  PSH is host the NEAC men’s soccer playoffs games.  It should be interesting to work those games.  The basketball teams here are getting ready to start their seasons with new head coaches for the men’s and women’s teams.  It should be interesting to see how they turn out.

Been a while

Sorry that I’m not updating every week, I’ve been really busy and keep forgetting.  Since my last post my softball team lost in the championship game after coming back to take the lead in the last inning.  It was sad but The Hulkamaniacs will be back come the spring season ready to win it all.  Now its flag football season and my team, The Juice Box Hero’s, are already 1-0 and playing for our second win tonight.  One of my favorite things about college is the intramural sports.  They are a lot of fun and provide people like me who played sports in High School and are unable to do so at the collegiate level a way to play sports.  Right now I’m just finishing the time were i have all the midterms or first exams which is always fun, but when its over life will be a little easier.  I’m going to be going home for the first time since school started this weekend which should be fun, except the whole 7 hour drive.  Its worth it to see my family because ill be home just one more time (Thanksgiving) until the semester is over.  That’s about it for now, ill try to remember to blog again either before i go to State College next weekend for the Michigan game or when i get back.

I’m Back

So much has happened since i came back to school i don’t know if i can remember it all.  Ive been back in Middletown for almost a month now though it seems like i just got here.  All my classes this semester look to be good and maybe even fun which is kinda scary.  This year i am President of Lion Ambassadors so the first thing we did was hold sign ups and interviews for new members.  We came out with 20 great candidates who should make this year go well.  Also i got season tickets for football which is awesome because Penn State is nasty this year.  I’m so glad i chose Penn State because of Football.  Last week IM softball started and my team The Hulkamaniacs are 2-1 so far.  Also working for the Athletic department has gone well.  PSH is lucky because we have an Excellent Athletic trainer in Brandon Conway (Lets see if he reads this, and you are welcome) .  Anyway i should be back on a more regular schedule from now on.

Summer Update

So I haven’t written anything since school ended so i figured I would update on whats going on.  I haven’t really done anything exciting this summer, just working all the time.  I’m working at an ice cream and food place near the beach in Salisbury, MA.  I haven’t gone anywhere except during memorial day weekend i went to Maine to go fishing.  I guess my highlight of the summer so far has been going to see The Dark Knight at midnight with my cousin.  The Dark Knight was amazing, the best movie I’ve ever seen.   I’ll be back in Middletown on August 18.  After then i should be back on my regular updates.

The End

So Today is officially the last day of school, even though many have finished already.  It’s a now a weekend of mixed emotions for many, happy to go home, but also sad to leave friends.  For me it’s one of those weekends.  As I am writing the my last post of the school year (do not worry ill post over summer) I think back on the year.  It was overall a pretty good year i think.  The year definitely finished strong and hopefully the momentum continues into the summer.  This is a much different summer than last years because so many of my friends are leaving PSH for good, either to UPark or to other schools.  I’m glad a lot of my good friends are staying and I am looking forward to being the President of Lion Ambassadors.  I have some big shoes to fill but i think ill hold my own.  Now in my last post i told you about the Facebook group and in that group you can request shout outs, so here they are; Chad, Sara, Mikhail, and my whole intramural soccer team.  Well i have to go back to packing and such, i hope everyone has a good summer.

Since my picture has been place on the homepage i have been getting a lot of attention from my fellow classmates, because of this my friends have decided to help spread the word of my blog via Facebook. It was my friend Joe’s great idea to make a group which you can access here. So thank you to all that are viewing me through the links on Facebook and feel free to make fun of me at any time haha. Since i was told to give the people what they want a day early, i will. Last night our amazing softball team, the Turbo Durbins, were knocked out of the playoffs following a 10-9 stunner. We played well but just couldn’t hold on to win. Fortunately the soccer team i play on is still playing so i have something to distract me from my finals. Speaking of which are starting on Monday. Hopefully i can do well and get some good grades to make my summer better. Ill have an update sometime next week.

Some face time

So this week Penn State Harrisburg decided to put my face on the homepage. Lucky me. I don’t really mind that its there except for the fact now everybody knows about my blog and they like to let me know of that fact. So now that everybody knows, I’m supposed to give a shout out to my softball team, the Turbo Durbins. So we won are game big the other night and we all played well. The only mishap during the game was probably when i missed a fly ball because i slipped on the wet grass and fell on my ass. Other than that it was a good game. Now I’m looking forward to the last week of school before finals.

Some things to do

So I’ve been playing in intermurals since i started at Penn State Harrisburg. Currently I’m playing in two sports, Indoor Soccer and Softball. During the year we have lots of other sports like flag football, dodge ball, and basketball. Its a pretty fun way to hang out with friends and meet some new people. The games are easy to make because the games are played at 9pm and 10pm and the staff do a good job at fixing scheduling conflicts. The games get pretty competitive so its a lot of fun. This week the playoffs started in Softball so every game is important. Also this week the SGA is running “the Rites of Spring”. The event last all week and includes lots of free events, food, and gifts. Earlier in the year we had “Fall Fest” which is basiclly the same thing but in the fall.
